Study requirements
- German applicants and applicants with a German university degree apply directly at HTW Dresden.
- First university degree with a Bachelor or Diploma in Egyptology, Ancient American Studies, Medieval Archaeology or Medieval and Modern Archaeology, Christian Archaeology, Classical Archaeology, Provincial Roman Archaeology, Prehistoric Archaeology or Prehistory and Early History, Near Eastern Archaeology, Excavation Technology or Field Archaeology
- In case of doubt, the suitability must be recognized in the examination board of the Faculty of Informatics.
- English language skills have to be verified by suitable tests, such as
- TOEFL (min. 550 points, computer-based 213 points, internet-based 79 points)
- IELTS (min. 6.5)
- Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (min. B)
- Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (min. B)
Application and application period
- Application deadline for winter semester: 1st May to 15th July.

- First university degree with a Bachelor or Diploma in Egyptology, Ancient American Studies, Medieval Archaeology or Medieval and Modern Archaeology, Christian Archaeology, Classical Archaeology, Provincial Roman Archaeology, Prehistoric Archaeology or Prehistory and Early History, Near Eastern Archaeology, Excavation Technology or Field Archaeology
or a university degree in a culturally orientated subject related to material cultural heritage
In case of doubt, the suitability must be recognized in the examination board of the Faculty of Civil Engineering.
English language skills have to be verified by suitable tests, such as
TOEFL (min. 550 points, computer based 213 points, internet-based 79 points)
IELTS (min. 6.5)
Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (min. B)
Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (min.B)
The English language certificate is only necessary for applicants from countries which have not declared English as official language.

Study objectives
As a graduate of the Master‘s programme Computer and Geoscience in Archaeology, you will be equipped with scientific knowledge and hands-on experience in the field of computer science and spatial information science and their application in archaeology.
You will be able to work in institutions and organizations that focus on the archaeological cultural heritage such as museums, heritage authorities, research institutes, excavation contractors and digital service providers in the field. You will have the abilities to conceive, plan and oversee digital workflows and data management for the research, monitoring, protection, presentation and valorisation of the archaeological cultural heritage.
