Anti-virus software for employees and students
The computer center offers a license for the anti-virus software of the company SOPHOS for devices with the operating system Windows and Mac-OS for all members of the HTW Dresden within the scope of a state contract.
The use of these services is free of charge for all members and students of the HTW Dresden; even the private PC of a member of the HTW Dresden can use the update service. The departure/graduation from the HTW Dresden ends the right to use and the possibility to participate in the update service.
Instructions for private devices
These instructions apply to private devices for members of the HTW Dresden. To install Sophos on HTW Dresden devices, please use the instructions in the internal area (login required).

Visit www.sophos.com/en-us/legal/sophos-group-privacy-notice and read the privacy policy carefully. In order to use the Sophos service, you will need to agree to this privacy policy later. Only carry out the next steps if you agree. The scan results of your PC are stored online in the Sophos dashboard and can be viewed online after you have logged in.
- Go to the website: home.sophos.com/en-us/employee. Enter your HTW email address here and click Submit.
- You will now receive an e-mail asking you to create an account at home.sophos.com. You will also receive a coupon code in the e-mail. Now go to home.sophos.com/en-us/redeem and create a Sophos account. Enter the coupon code you received in the registration form.
- You will now receive another email to the email address you entered there and you must confirm this by clicking on the link in this email.
- You can then log in to the home.sophos.com website. (Point Sign In on the top right). It is best to log on to the PC that you want to protect with Sophos.
- Now you can download and install the software. To do this, you have to agree to the Sophos terms of use.
When you log in to another device, a confirmation code will be emailed to you again.
After logging in to Sophos, you can view the data received for your device on the Sophos Dashboard.
The "Endpoint Exploit Prevention" component is included in the Sophos installation. It protects against ransomware (crypto and extortion Trojans).
