Professorship

The professorship of Management of Medium-Sized Enterprises is responsible for teaching in the following subjects

  • Management in Medium-Sized Enterprises - Leadership and Management (Bachelor)
  • Corporate Management in Medium-Sized Enterprises - Commercial Control (Bachelor)
  • Operational and Strategic Controlling for Medium-Sized Enterprises (Master)
  • Financial Management and Financing in Medium-Sized Enterprises (Master)
  • Risk and Crisis Management in Medium-Sized Enterprises (Master)
  • Strategic Business Simulation (Master)
  • Introduction to Production Management (Bachelor)

The professorship's courses are offered in the Bachelor's degree programmes in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering and Management, International Business as well as in the Master's degree programmes in Management of Medium-Sized Enterprises, Industrial Engineering and Management.

Particular focal points/special areas in teaching are the examination of the specific requirements of corporate management of medium-sized companies.

Interests

The research/interest focus of the Chair of Management of SMEs is on the topic of corporate management in SMEs, especially in the areas of financing, controlling and strategic management, business start-ups and business succession as well as risk and crisis management.

Since 2013, the professorship has accompanied the "Saxon Milestone" competition (prize for successful company succession) with a scientific evaluation of the submitted applications, which is organised by Bürgschaftsbank Sachsen GmbH / Mittelständische Beteiligungsgesellschaft GmbH under the patronage of the Saxon State Minister for Economic Affairs, Labour and Transport. Prof. Gonschorek is responsible for the cooperation with Ellipsis Gesellschaft für Unternehmensentwicklung mbH, Dresden, in the framework of which further education courses certified by HTW Dresden have been held since 2013. (www.ellipsis.de/ellipsis-campus/lehrgaenge/)

Prof. Gonschorek gives lectures on the aforementioned research/interest areas and advises companies on these topics.

Organised by Prof. Gonschorek, excursions and practitioner lectures regularly take place in the courses, e.g. excursions to Dr. Doerr Feinkost GmbH & Co. KG, Dresden or to LAKOWA GmbH, Sohland/Spree.
