Professorship of Internal Accounting, Financial and Environmental Controlling
Professorship
The professorship of Internal Accounting, Financial and Environmental Controlling is responsible for teaching the subjects of internal accounting and controlling, financial controlling, business valuation and M&A as well as life cycle management.
The professorship's courses are offered in all Bachelor's programmes in business administration as well as in the Master's programme in industrial engineering.
Special emphasis in teaching is placed on an interactive course design that enables students to actively participate in the courses.
Prof. Thamm primarily supervises practical courses and final theses that focus on one of the following topics: Business Valuation, Valuation of Complex Investment Projects, Value-based Controlling, Financial Controlling, Strategic Controlling, Sustainability Reporting as well as Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital.
Prof. Thamm is the university supervisor for the foreign partner universities RMIT University Melbourne, RMIT Vietnam, German - Jordanian University (Jordan), Victoria-Universität Wellington and Windesheim University of Applied Sciences.

- Since 2015 Professor for Internal Accounting, Financial and Environmental Controlling
- 2009-2015 Various specialist and management positions within the GASAG Group, including commercial management of a subsidiary and management of strategy development within group-wide corporate development
- 2009-2013 Freelance lecturer in business administration at the Saxony State Academy of Studies
- 2004-2009 Research assistant and doctoral student at the Chair of Financial Controlling at the Georg-August University of Göttingen under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Robert Gillenkirch, dissertation "Portfolio Strategies of Venture Capital Companies" awarded the Florenz Sartorius Prize for the best dissertation of the Faculty of Economics in the field of business administration
- 1999-2001 Commercial management of a start-up project funded by EXIST SEED
- 1998-2003 Various practical activities during studies, e.g. at the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft, AMD Saxony and the Saxony Economic Development Corporation
- 1996-2002 Studied business administration at the Technical University of Dresden, majoring in controlling/accounting, innovation management/start-ups and market-oriented corporate management
