Bachelor: Electrical Engineering / Elektrotechnik
This international Bachelor's degree course is aimed at English speaking students who wish to combine a comprehensive electrical engineering education with learning German in order to successfully enter the German job market after graduation.
A specially adapted curriculum has been developed for this purpose, which combines the teaching of technical basics in English (in the 1st to 4th semester) with an intensive German course. German language level B2 must be achieved by the end of the 4th semester. In the subsequent main course (5th to 8th semester), lessons are then continued in German.
Studying at HTW Dresden is very practice-oriented and offers excellent development opportunities. The centrally located campus creates an atmosphere of quick and uncomplicated exchange with fellow students and other people of all backgrounds.

Programme contents
The Electrical Engineering degree programme is a practice-oriented engineering degree programme. Thanks to a specially tailored core curriculum, it is also suitable for students who do not have the language requirements for a German-language degree programme at the start of their studies.
The degree programme is fundamentally derived from the German-language Bachelor's degree programme in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, whereby the first semesters have been modified to form a ‘study adapter’ in which the technical content of the first two semesters is stretched over four semesters. This makes it possible to use the workload freed up for intensive study of the German language. In the first two semesters, the courses are held entirely in English, while in the third and fourth semesters the language is partly shifted to German. From the fifth semester (main study programme), the course language is almost entirely German.
During their studies, students acquire knowledge in a wide range of disciplines required for electrical engineering, e.g. Fundamentals of electrical engineering, computer science, materials engineering, mathematics, technical physics, electronics, electronics design and technology, system theory/control theory, measurement technology, digital circuits, industrial control systems, power electronics, computer-aided design (CAD), fundamentals of microprocessors, signals and systems, electrical actuators, testing and verification, electrical power supply, electromagnetic compatibility, electronic assembly and connection technology and microsystems as well as business management/engineering law. In addition, several compulsory elective modules on various specialisation areas of electrical engineering must be selected in the main course.
The modules are method-orientated. The modules teach skills in the application of analysis, design, dimensioning, calculation, measurement and testing methods. Numerous product-orientated modules are aimed in particular at the necessary breadth and applicability of the training.
