Information on barrier-free accessibility

The following features are available in the Central Library for people with disabilities:
 

  • Barrier-free access to the library (wheelchair ramp)
  • Automatic doors in the entrance area
  • Passenger lift to all levels
  • Information telephones at a comfortable height next to the lift doors on levels 2 to 4
  • Work tables with wheelchair access and self-service terminals
  • Single work carrel suitable for wheelchair users
  • WC for disabled persons on levels 2 and 3
  • VisioDesk for visually impaired people (see below)

VisioDesk

The VisioDesk is a portable, foldable screen reader for visually impaired library users. It can be borrowed free of charge from the information desk on the ground floor of the Central Library for use in the building. Technical details:

  • Image optimisation function
  • Rotatable, high-resolution Full HD camera
  • 15.6-inch Full HD widescreen monitor in 16:9 format
  • High-contrast LED lighting
  • Battery operation possible
