If you want to change your study programme, apply by 15th July for a change from the winter semester and by 15th January for a change from the summer semester. In addition to the application for a change of study programme, proof of all academic achievements as well as failures is required.

A change of study programme for the 1st semester is not possible at HTW Dresden. Please apply via the online portal.

If you switch to HTW Dresden for the same study programme, we will count your previous study periods as well as academic and examination performances - as far as possible - in your new study programme.

If your new study programme is not the same as before, you must apply to the responsible Examination Board for crediting of individual academic and examination performances that you have already completed.

If you have irrevocably failed an examination in your previous studies, you will be de-registered ex officio. A change of study programme is not possible.

If you receive “BAföG”, you must notify the BAföG Office immediately of any change in study programme (cf. http://www.studentenwerk-dresden.de/finanzierung). You will get more information from there. Continuation of your funding for the new study programme comes into consideration primarily if there is an important reason for the change of study programme. To know for sure whether you will continue to receive funding, you can apply to the “BAföG Office” for a preliminary decision (cf. § 46 Para. 5 BAföG - Federal Education and Training Assistance Act).
