ZIGPOS deals with the realisation of positioning systems for indoor and outdoor areas. The user delimits three-dimensional spaces by means of individual radio modules (fixed points) that can be set up at a distance of up to 100 metres. The position is determined by communicating with a variable measuring point that can be moved anywhere in the demarcated space. The data is read out and transmitted by means of wireless sensor networks. Sensor-based positioning systems have so far achieved an accuracy of only one to two metres. ZIGPOS meets the challenge of achieving an accuracy of 5 centimetres.
